(11) prepare to chroot

First we need to prepare the environment by mounting crucial file systems like /proc/sys and of course /dev

Take your time and get this right...

root@raspberrypi:/mnt/genoot# mount -t proc proc /mnt/genoot/proc
root@raspberrypi:/mnt/genoot# mount --rbind /sys /mnt/genoot/sys
root@raspberrypi:/mnt/genoot# mount --make-rslave /mnt/genoot/sys
root@raspberrypi:/mnt/genoot# mount --rbind /dev /mnt/genoot/dev
root@raspberrypi:/mnt/genoot# mount --make-rslave /mnt/genoot/dev

SSH

IF you are doing the install via SSH... and not using Raspbian . . . .

Then, this might not be enough. Because some other distros make /dev/shm a symbolic link. The offical Gentoo Handbook has a simple work around.

Next : chroot from Raspbian into Gentoo
